in search of fulfillment
The international cooperation future.repair.machine investigates the concept of repair as a sustainable and innovative tool in the cultural and social environments of five European cities: Graz, Eindhoven, Budapest, Berlin and Munich. Five new formats for city-based repair concepts and strategies, which were developed in each city through collaboration between professional and non-professional artists, citizens, experts, and researchers.
«In Search of Fulfillment» is part of future.repair.machine and a repair and transformation project exploring online logistics, fast fashion, and the pursuit of happiness. Bis es mir vom Leibe a berlin based association collaborated with Studio Circology to develop the conceptual approach and design development of the project for the City of Berlin.
What keeps artists, scientists and citizens busy are questions of the climate and a changed use of our resources.
A participatory project in which participants of the public, initiatives, schools, and associations collaboratively engage during various public events. Among other activities, workshops focus on weaving, tufting, and sewing a life-sized semi-trailer truck sculpture made from discarded clothing.
Surrounding and connected to these interactive workshops, lectures, readings, and performances explore the question of what “fulfillment”—the logistics process of online retail has to do with fast fashion, waste production, and happiness. The project examines to what extent this “fulfillment” represents the epitome of our wasteful way of life, and whether it truly brings fulfillment or instead needs to be fundamentally reworked. Workshops on artistic activism complement the program. Contributions from, among others: Radikale Töchter, Rimini Protokoll & The Or Foundation.
